Introducing the 2022 release of the Mt. Veeder Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, an exceptional wine crafted from grapes grown at our Altezia Estate Vineyard. Perched at an impressive 2,550 feet, this vineyard is among the highest in Napa Valley, lending unique character to the fruit. To preserve its vibrant freshness and acidity, the grapes were hand-harvested under the cover of night. After a five-day cold soak, native fermentation commenced in a mix of oak and stainless steel, with twice-daily pumpovers until dryness was achieved, followed by pressing at 17 days. The wine then underwent spontaneous malolactic fermentation in 100% French oak barrels, 50% of which were new. It was bottled unfined and unfiltered, preserving the purity and integrity of this remarkable Cabernet Sauvignon.

Tasting Notes

Intense complexity on the nose displaying aromas of dark chocolate, black currant, cranberry, Kalamata olive with a dash of cinnamon, clove and anise with a very slight spiciness which borders on ripe, fresh jalapeno. A tight entry on the palate gives way to an elegant weight and long, dense mouth-coating tannins and the wine displays a freshness that provides balance and length. This is a very long-lived wine and would benefit from some years in the cellar before enjoying, drink before 2050.
