2022 Profile

Winemaking

Profile is a true representation of our hillside estate vineyard in Conn Valley. Blended from the best lots produced across 25 sloped and rocky acres, it reflects each vintage’s unique characteristics through the diversity of clonal selections, rootstocks, soils, elevation, orientation and microclimates on the property. The wine was vinified with classic Bordeaux techniques- wild yeast fermentation began after 5 days of cold soak and reached peak temperature of 90F. After 15-21 days of maceration, the wines were drained directly to barrel to complete spontaneous malolactic fermentation. We aged the wine for 22 months in 80% new French oak barrels. The wine was bottled without fining or filtration. In 2022 we saw a heat event in early September, but through preparation in terms of heavy irrigation before and during the heat and the natural balance and resilience provided by well-established old vines, we were able to achieve freshness and balance despite the challenge thrown at us by the weather.

Tasting Notes

A blend of 98% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Cabernet Franc that reflects the best of the Profile Estate in a fantastic vintage. This wine opens with powerful aromas ranging from fruit notes of black cherry, boysenberry, cassis to secondary aromas of sandalwood, and cocoa powder, to mineral and herbal components of graphite and subtle hints of bay leaf. On the palate, the wine is generous and layered, with long fine-grained tannins providing a rich structural backbone, offering remarkable aging potential while remaining fresh and harmoniously balanced over the next 15+ years.
