2022 Profile F3 Block
Description
The grapes from Block F3 were hand harvested at night in order to retain freshness and get the fruit in the cellar as cool as possible. The wine was vinified with classic Bordeaux techniques—wild yeast fermentation began after 5 days of cold soak and reached peak temperature of 90°F. After 15-21 days of maceration, the wine was drained directly to barrel to complete spontaneous malolactic fermentation. The wine was bottled unfined and unfiltered.
The 2022 F3 Cabernet Franc showcases one of the 17 unique blocks off the Profile Estate. Block F3 is planted to clone 327 on 3309 rootstock and is located in one of the lower blocks at the Estate. The wine presents ripe raspberry and black cherry form the core, supported by violet, dark chocolate, nutmeg, sage, and cedar. The palate shows density with fine-grained, well-integrated tannins and a polished mid-palate. Vibrant acidity lifts the fruit and carries through a persistent finish. Overall balance, ripe phenolics, and structural polish highlight the site’s suitability for Cabernet Franc in Napa. A truly unique wine and one that will develop over the next 25+ years.
