2023 Arvine Stanly Ranch

Winemaking 

In the realm of Arvine, our wine stands as a rarity, with only one other vineyard planted to Arvine in California, totaling less than 5 acres planted in the entire state. The 2022 vintage marked the inaugural bottling, sourced from a 0.6-acre parcel in the historic Stanly Ranch Vineyard on the Napa side of Carneros AVA. Our Arvine grapes benefit from a perfect climate of warm, breezy days and cool nights. Hand-harvested in the early morning of October 27th, 2023, the grapes were pressed to stainless steel drums for settling, followed by fermentation and aging for 10 months in twice used neutral French oak barrels. 

Vintage 

In 2023, Napa Valley experienced one of the longest growing seasons in a decade or more. With consistent, mild weather throughout the season, above-average crop yields, and extended hang time, 2023 is an exceptional, high-quality, memorable vintage. 

Tasting Notes 

Citrus notes of orange peel and mandarin, hints of d’anjou pear and white peach with a vibrant florality while maintaining a saline minerality which is characteristic of this variety and accentuated by the proximity to the San Pablo Bay. On the palate the wine opens with a fresh entry settling in to a creamy mid-palate and finishing with a long and bright acidity. Using only used French oak barrels for fermentation helps this wine exhibit a purity of expression. 2023 was a wonderful vintage in Napa and this Arvine is no exception. It is lovely on its own or delicious with food, especially seafood and hard cheeses.
